Biography
Yarno Missiaen (Veurne °10/03/2005) started playing music at a young age. At the age of 7, he received his first piano lessons at the art academy in Veurne, where he was taught by Mrs. Elst Veerle. He received his first organ lessons at the Lemmens Institute in Leuven (B) with Mr. Jacobs Bart. Later Missiaen studied at the Tilburg Conservatory (NL) with Mr. Huijbregts Ruud and currently at the Ghent Conservatory (B) with Mr. Michiels Ignace.
In 2023 he recorded the entire ‘Orgelbüchlein’ (BWV 599-644) by J.S. Bach for the renowned label ‘Etcetera’. Missiaen owes his many solo concerts at home and abroad partly to the success of this recording. He played in Knokke, Ghent, Kortrijk, Mechelen, Brussels, Tilburg, Eindhoven, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Maastricht, London, etc.
Missiaen has already collaborated with various choirs and orchestras. He performed, among others, Poulenc’s organ concerto, but also Duruflé’s Requiem, Vierne’s messe solennelle, Haydn’s small organ mass, Elgar’s Enigma variations, Britten’s Nicolacantata, as well as contemporary creations such as “Hell and heaven” (Symphony) by Oscar Navarro, which he has performed several times with the Royal Symphonic Band of the Belgian Guides
His contribution to the contemporary classical music world is not unimportant, he collaborated with and performed work by composers such as Jo Sporck, Kristiaan van Ingelgem, Christopher Marshall, Leander Schoormans,…
